Welcome to the world Baby Wesley!

My sister-in-law Dana had baby Wesley Douglas Archer on Tuesday, December 2nd. He was 6 lbs 6.3oz and 19in long. WHAT A CUTIE! He has so much hair and little monkey legs, I just want to hold him! Everything went fabulously, baby and mommy are very healthy. I'm so excited to meet this little guy...he is going to be super smart. Isn't birth amazing?? Such a miracle

Smalls, thanks for the post ;) I am glad they are both doing well. Especially because I have been learning the most tragic things in my classes about mothers and babies. I read an article a couple of weeks ago the summed up what I'm learning...

"On average, every minute of every day a woman somewhere dies in childbirth or pregnancy, the overwhelming majority in developing countries.

With almost 99 per cent of maternal deaths occurring in the developing world, the differences in risk for women in those countries, in comparison with Europeans, are staggering. One in every seven women in Niger will ultimately die of pregnancy-related causes, whereas in Sweden the lifetime risk is one in 17,400.

Sierra Leone remains a stark reminder of that contrast, suffering one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world, with one in every eight women dying in childbirth, according to Unicef. The experience there mirrors that in most of sub-Saharan Africa, where the maternal death rate has remained almost unchanged since 2000."

How tragic is that?? I am so grateful that all went well, and am praying that Sara's will be the same.
